ecospace
welcome to ecospace!
This website was created as a school project for Earth Day 2024, with the name "ecospace" being a combination of ecosphere and cyberspace. Its goal is to educate and spread awareness about numerous issues affecting the planet and its people. As you explore, you can discover ways you can help, check out the resources page to find other places to learn, and more!
Enjoy your time at Ecospace!updates

click on each of these clean power sources and learn how they work!
Nuclear Energy
Nuclear power uses sustained nuclear fission (atoms splitting apart) to generate heat and electricity. It contributes almost 20% of electricity generated in America. It's extremely reliable and produces nearly 0 carbon dioxide!
CloseFuel Cells
Fuel cells provide electricity from numerous fuels, commonly using hydrogen and water. Energy is generated through an electrochemical reaction, and can also generate heat and water. They're clean, efficient, and reliable.
CloseBioenergy
Bioenergy is renewable energy derived from biological sources like forest residues, energy crops, and algae. It can be used for heat, electricity, and vehicle fuel. It's the largest source of renewable energy globally, accounting for 55% of it.
CloseGeothermal Energy
Geothermal energy takes heat from within the Earth. Wells are drilled deep down and then can tap into resources to convert it to clean power. It can run 24/7, is renewable, and has a small footprint!
CloseWind Energy
Wind turbines collect and convert the kinetic energy from wind into electricity. It's cost effective and excellent in remote areas, providing 10.1% of America's electricity.
CloseSolar Energy
With solar energy, sunlight is converted to electricity either through panels or mirrors. While upfront costs can be high, work is being put in to decrease this, and it's great for long-term savings.
